Meet Our Doctor
Dr. Ashley Crabtree, Optometrist
Dr. Ashley Crabtree was born and raised in rural South Dakota graduating from Lake Preston High School. She completed her undergraduate education at Northern State University in Aberdeen, South Dakota where she graduated with honors and a Bachelor of Science Degree in Biology and minor in Psychology. After graduation, she went on to pursue her Doctorate Degree at the Illinois College of Optometry in Chicago, IL graduating in 2009.
During her time at the Illinois College of Optometry, Dr. Crabtree gained clinical knowledge and experience in eye disease at the veteran’s hospital in downtown Chicago, the Illinois Eye Institute, the Omaha Eye & Laser Surgical Institute, and Offut Air Force Base.
She has owned and operated a private practice in Madison, South Dakota for the last 13 years. Dr. Crabtree has extensive experience in medical optometry providing comprehensive services to her patients including vision correction, glaucoma treatment, management of macular degeneration, foreign body removal, treatment of ocular infections, dry eye management, emergency medical care, surgical cataract and refractive (LASIK) co-management, infant and pediatric eye examinations, and specialty contact lens fitting for diseases such as keratoconus.
Dr. Crabtree is an active member of the American Optometric Association and the South Dakota Optometric Society, serving as the communications chair for 12 years and on the board of directors for 10 years. She was honored as the South Dakota Young Optometrist of the Year in 2016 and was elected in as the SDOS President in 2024. She enjoys working with both the elderly and children. She also participates in the InfantSEE program, which provides a vision evaluation at no cost to children between the ages of six to twelve months.
Dr. Crabtree is married to husband, Casey, and has two boys Casyn and Callan. When not in the office, she can be found enjoying small town life with her family and friends, spending time on the lake, enjoying the outdoors, at various sporting events, or relaxing at home.
